Piercing Safety & Healing Guide

Getting a new piercing? Whether it’s your ears, nose, or something more adventurous, proper aftercare is essential for a safe and smooth healing process.

Before the Piercing:

  • Choose a licensed, clean studio: Don’t compromise on hygiene.

  • Use a professional piercer—not a piercing gun. Guns can cause trauma to the tissue.

  • Discuss metal types: Go for implant-grade titanium, surgical steel, or 14k–18k gold to avoid allergic reactions.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Clean twice daily: Use saline solution or piercing-safe rinse.

  • Avoid touching: Only touch with clean hands when cleaning.

  • Sleep carefully: Avoid pressure on the pierced area.

  • Avoid swimming: No pools, oceans, or hot tubs until fully healed.

  • No alcohol or peroxide: These slow healing and dry out the skin.

Healing Times by Piercing:

  • Earlobe: 6–8 weeks

  • Cartilage: 4–12 months

  • Nose: 2–6 months

  • Eyebrow: 6–8 weeks

  • Navel: 6 months – 1 year

Signs of Infection (See a Piercer or Doctor):

  • Excessive redness, swelling, pain

  • Pus or green/yellow discharge

  • Fever or chills

Final advice:

Be patient. Healing is a process, and with proper care, your new piercing will look great for years to come.
