Piercing Safety & Healing Guide
Getting a new piercing? Whether it’s your ears, nose, or something more adventurous, proper aftercare is essential for a safe and smooth healing process.
Before the Piercing:
Choose a licensed, clean studio: Don’t compromise on hygiene.
Use a professional piercer—not a piercing gun. Guns can cause trauma to the tissue.
Discuss metal types: Go for implant-grade titanium, surgical steel, or 14k–18k gold to avoid allergic reactions.
Aftercare Tips:
Clean twice daily: Use saline solution or piercing-safe rinse.
Avoid touching: Only touch with clean hands when cleaning.
Sleep carefully: Avoid pressure on the pierced area.
Avoid swimming: No pools, oceans, or hot tubs until fully healed.
No alcohol or peroxide: These slow healing and dry out the skin.
Healing Times by Piercing:
Earlobe: 6–8 weeks
Cartilage: 4–12 months
Nose: 2–6 months
Eyebrow: 6–8 weeks
Navel: 6 months – 1 year
Signs of Infection (See a Piercer or Doctor):
Excessive redness, swelling, pain
Pus or green/yellow discharge
Fever or chills
Final advice:
Be patient. Healing is a process, and with proper care, your new piercing will look great for years to come.
